Mila is the UK’s leading distributor of hardware to the fenestration sector. It supplies innovative Mila branded products, designed and developed in-house, as well as market-leading brands including Siegenia and Yale. More than 10,000 product lines are held in stock at the company’s Daventry HQ for next day delivery.
Independent market research published by Mila in 2014 showed that, when fabricators were asked to name the hardware supplier which they felt best exemplified the commercial attributes which mattered most to them, 67% named Mila as the number one. This was almost four times the number who named the supplier in second place.
Mila proudly boasts that it can supply a hardware solution for virtually any application – whether that is for a budget, standard or premium window and door range, or even a bespoke product for a particular customer requirement.
The company is focused on developing solutions which meet current market demands and at the same introducing advanced new products which give its customers the opportunity to win new business or give themselves a competitive edge.
This includes new innovations such as the recently launched ProSecure patio handle, which is the only high security patio handle in the UK to have achieved a Kitemark, and the TripleStay® friction stay range, which can carry 30% more load than a standard friction stay to make it suitable for use with triple glazed and wide side-hung sashes.
As well as its products though, Mila believes what really sets it apart from the competition is its market leading OTIF (On Time In Full) service performance. The company can boast that, during 2014, its average OTIF score on its fastest moving products was 99%, and, alongside this, its average line OTIF on all products was 98.5%.
These scores are achieved through a relentless focus on managing and strengthening its supply chain. Mila sources many of its own brand products from key manufacturing partners in China and, with its own office in China staffed directly by Mila employees, it works hard to develop what the Chinese call ‘Guanxi’ – which is essentially the spirit of trust and cooperation which exists between business partners.
Combined with the expertise which exists within Mila’s supply chain team, this ‘Guanxi’ helps Mila to implement initiatives such as dual sourcing on all of its fast moving products to ensure continuity of supply and even the storage of ‘opportunity stock’ ready for despatch at suppliers’ factory gates to meet peaks in demand in the UK.
Mila is also proud of its proven track record in customer service. In 2014, for example, its Triple Care Technical Support service was shortlisted for the Customer Care Initiative of the Year at the G-Awards.
As part of its Technical Support service, Mila even has its own Test Centre where customers can carry out indicative testing for PAS24: 2012 accreditation.
It also provides sales and marketing support to customers and can tailor its offering to include bespoke options on everything from packaging to deliveries.
Established in the UK in 1980, Mila also operates in Ireland, Scandinavia and the Baltic States. It is part of Arran Isle Ltd, which in October 2014 was named as one of the UK’s fastest growing companies in the Sunday Times’ Top Track 250 list.
